Youth Development Programs​

​

What NOW seeks to positively impact member’s knowledge, behaviors, skills and attitudes regarding substance abuse and violence. What NOW's four prevention based content areas include: Youth Development, Health & Wellness, Leadership through Community Service, and Partnerships. Programs are designed to specifically target the different age groups:

  • Homework Assistance – Youth participate in one hour of designated homework time daily. Prevention specialists and volunteers encourage youth to develop good homework habits and finish assignments.

  • Computer Lab – Teaches youth the fundamentals of Microsoft software programs, hardware identification, typing skills, digital arts and movie making.

  • Art Program – Encourages artistic expression among youth through drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media and sculpture.

  • Literacy –Promotes literacy skills while exploring the fun of literature. Youth participate in writing workshops, reading strategies, vocabulary, storytelling & poetry. Our library also provides access to age-appropriate books for personal use.

  • Sports/Recreation – Provides structured physical activity that introduce and review the fundamentals of sports, physical conditioning and healthy habits. Members will be working on team building and communication skills while participating in interactive sports and recreational games.

  • STEM-Focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in interactive and challenging ways. Youth participate in hands on and interactive activities.

​What NOW invest in our community through its youth by providing integrated services, comprehensive, and programs that increase resiliency, encourage responsibility, and promote self determination.

Economic Development

What NOW helps youth become empowered, strong, and confident.  We teach the you on how to be a Leader and not a Follower via communication skills, business skills, life skills, presentation skills, financial skills and time management skills!!!

What NOW is working in partnership with others to  address today’s most urgent environmental challenges by targeting issues  (ie: Health, Ecosystems, Oceans, and Climate) that affect people around the world.  Be a part of the Solution, not the Problem!

Substance and Abuse Prevention

What NOW's programs for teens inspire lifelong skills and friendships. What NOW gives teens a safe place to go after school that not only keeps them off the streets and out of trouble, but teaches them real-life skills that encourage academic success and career development.
